Most people think that getting weaker, fatter and stiffer are the inevitable result of aging. Not true! Much of the physical decline we attribute to age actually comes from inactivity. Strength training WILL make muscles stronger, and metabolism more responsive...no matter what your age! A study documenting the "anti-aging" effects of physical activity comes from the University of Nevada, where physiologist Lawrence Golding has collected data on 1,000 adults. "The dramatic age drop that occurs in the normal population isn't present with the regular exercisers," he says. "The data shows a powerful trend that exercise maintains physical function". The resistance-type exercises offered by Body Electric strengthen muscles and bones, improve balance, and build mood elevating confidence. Healthy vigor enhances your quality of life. I encourage you to participate in the exercises 4 to 5 days each week, and continue to challenge yourself. Careful attention to proper form is most important...intensity will follow.
